A Few Easy Tips For Healthy Eating

November 14th, 2010 by Aleshia Grasmick

Super easy tips for healthy eating can help you trim your waistline and increase your quality of life. You do not always have to make difficult and drastic changes in order to enjoy a better diet. The best way to go about improving your personal menu is by simply making certain to keep healthy foods that are easily accessible on hand and occasionally making minor substitutes that help decrease your caloric intake.

More often than not people make bad food choices because they are hungry and need something quick to grab. A fast fix for this is to have plenty of healthy options that are readily available at all times. These will be both cooked and uncooked, high protein or high fiber.

One great snack is almonds. You can keep these either roasted or raw, but low-salt or no-salt options are always preferable. Small bags of these offer you a quick protein boost that will help quench your cravings for fatty, sugary, empty calories. These can be purchased at grocery stores or health food stores in small snack sized packs or you can create you own by purchasing a larger bag and storing small quantities in snack sized storage bags.

One other way to make certain that you have good, lean protein on hand is to grill a few pounds of chicken. The ideal cut for this is boneless, skinless breast tenderloins, but you can substitute other cuts if you prefer. This way whenever you return home famished, rather than grabbing cookies, chips or other undesirables you can pull a few of these out of the refrigerator cold and toss them with some low fat dressing and fresh cut greens. This is a simple and light meal that will help fill you up before you can reach for foods that have limited benefits for your body, if any at all.

Carefully choosing the vegetables that you keep on hand is also key to better eating habits. Your salads should always hold dark, leafy options rather than simple iceberg lettuce which lacks the vitamins and nutrients of other salad mainstays. The more colors that are in your produce bin, the more vitamins that will be in there as well. You should have carrots, several colors of peppers, fresh garlic and onions, ginger, a wide assortment of fruits and plenty of leafy greens, broccoli and even some asparagus, cucumbers and squash.

When you want a snack, instead of reaching for chips opt for low salt pretzels, fresh popped popcorn with light or no butter and limited salt. In place of ice cream you can always try frozen yogurts and sorbets which are often just as flavorful and delicious. Most beneficial of all, try swapping out sugary carbonated drinks for water with a slice of lemon. This one change in particular can help you drop pounds rapidly if you have long been a big soda drinker.

Four Tips To Eat Slowly For Weight Loss

November 14th, 2010 by Aleshia Grasmick

Minimizing the number of calories eaten during a meal could be as easy as eating a little slower according to a report posted by the University of Rhode Island. Researchers discovered that individuals ingested sixty seven fewer calories on average if they had around 20 min more to eat their dinner. While sixty seven calories may sound minimal, they’ll really add up during the period of three to five meals eaten each day.

Here’s 4 techniques you could start using at your next meal that may help you eat slower and also ingest less calories.

Conversing - Take time to enjoy the company you’re with while eating your meals. It can be hard to find the time to spend with family or friends therefore enjoy these times together. Not to mention a great side benefit is you could take in a few less calories.

Family dinner time - A terrific way to connect and learn about your spouse and child’s day is to have a sit down dinner with the family. It’s also a terrific way to eat your food even more slowly. Ask your spouse how their day was or ask what the children did at school today.

Enjoy the taste - Instead of eating your food as quickly as you can without even tasting it, try eating it slowly, savoring each bite. You might even create a passion for a wider variety of foods.

Drop the fork between bites - One more method to try calls for putting your eating utensil down between bites. This is best mixed with all of the preceding possibilities. For example, a) put your fork down and chat with family or friends, b) set down your fork and enjoy each and every bite.

For the best results, consider combining as many of these suggestions as possible whenever you eat and gradually watch the fat disappear!

Josephine Baker - Last Of The Famous Nude Burlesque Artists

October 12th, 2010 by Mark Hester

Josephine Baker was one of the most famous acts of the early 1920’s, one of the first major black stars and one of the last famous burlesque starlets. Her private life was equally as interesting.

Josephine Baker’s Early Life

Josephine Baker was born in 1906. She had what might charitably be called a…very unique look. She was the daughter of a white or perhaps mixed race father and an African American mother who worked as a laundress in St. Louis, Missouri. Her movements were gangling and had an endearing, goofy grin as seen in most existing photos.

She quit school at age twelve to work and by age 15 was dancing in a chorus line. By 17 she had already been married twice and it was her second husband, a Pullman railroad porter, Willie Baker, whose name she used for the rest of her life.

Taking the World by Storm

In 1924 Josephine won a part in the chorus of the famous Harlem Cotton Club show Chocolate Dandies. She also appeared in the Broadway revue Shuffle Along and by 1925 was appearing in Paris’s Theatre des Champ-Elysees.

Her entrance shocked even the most sophisticated 1920’s audiences — she appeared completely naked except for a thin skirt of feathers and was carried out slung over the shoulders of a large muscular actor.

Ernest Hemingway, living in Paris at the time, called her “the most sensational woman anyone ever saw.”

Josephine stayed behind in Paris when her troupe moved to Germany and joined the Folies Begere. She abandoned the feather skirt but this time appeared in one made of phallic-looking stuffed bananas.

Critics — Who Remembers Their Names?

Unfortunately, not everyone was in love with Baker. The critics generally hated her routine, calling her signature dance moves “laughable.” They are basically just comic variations she invented of the Charleston and Camel Walk. She was also often harassed by white French who considered her to be inferior because of her race.

But who listens to critics? Most Parisians adored her. The considered her something modern and completely new. She made a joke of sex while dancing around semi-nude and — somehow — managed to stay intensely provocative doing so.

Success and Fame

After have many public affairs with many of the leading men of 1920’s Paris — though not Papa Hemingway as far as we know — Josephine married her manager. He would go on to guide her later career.

Her had her name attached to several “memoirs” and “confessions” and even a novel. He had her train her voice and she recorded six songs which became hits. She made several films including Zouzou (in 1934) and Princesse Tamtam (1935). Though she was not an accomplished actress, her fame grew further.

When shooting on location, Baker traveled with her own zoo. Not pets — Zoo. She always brought along a chimpanzee, a piglet, a goat, a snake, 3 cats, 7 dogs, several parakeets, multiple fish and a full-grown cheetah. The cheetah often escaped and caused the film crew to panic.

She tried an American tour in 1936 but it was cut short after multiple incidents of racism. She returned to her beloved Paris and became a French citizen in 1936. She was active in the French resistance movement during World War II and was awarded the Legion d’Honneur in 1961 for her efforts.

Josephine Baker died in Paris in 1975.

Is Your Kitchen Responsible For Weight Gain?

October 4th, 2010 by Aleshia Grasmick

An unsuspecting cause of your weight problems may not be only the food you eat, but also the area you keep it: your kitchen! From snacks on your kitchen counter to the overstocked pantry, your kitchen may help pack on the body fat. Here’s a couple ways to give your kitchen area a weight reducing makeover.

Large Pantry - A sizable kitchen pantry, needless to say, can contain a great deal of food items. Sadly, that leaves much space for a variety of poor treats such as potato chips, pastries and so forth. If you have a large bag of cookies looking at you each time you check out the pantry it can make it tough to avoid. Fight this simply by splitting big bundles of food in to smaller sized servings thus you are more prone to consume less food at a single sitting. Furthermore, only continue to keep one chosen treat on hand at any given time.

Chaotic Counters - Your kitchen counter tops might be a home for all kinds of clutter: postal mail, newspapers, coupons, and so on. This is very challenging to the waist line for a lot of reasons. First of all, it’s simpler to just order out than it can be to un-clutter your counter tops to bake your own food. Second of all, clutter may result in anxiety which in turn raises cortisol amounts causing you to feel hungry. De-clutter your kitchen counters simply by shifting non eating activities outside the kitchen. For instance, look at newspapers in the den or keep your statements and all mail in an office.

Large Dishes - Large plates and drinking glasses are partially to blame for increasing midsections. By simply converting your 12 inch plate to a ten inch plate would result in 22% fewer calories being dished up. That doesn’t suggest you must go out and get brand-new dishes. As a guide, make 50 percent of your plate fresh vegetables and then the other half include a lean protein source as well as a carb.

Snack Foods In Sight - That cookie jar over on the counter is not at all helping your weight-loss goals. But, don’t entirely throw away every one of the snack foods, instead upgrade these for healthful, lower calorie choices like fruits and veggies or perhaps nuts. This should help you reach for a wholesome treat and also stop you from aimlessly looking through the pantry shelves (where the unhealthy snack foods ought to be located) for something to eat.

Your kitchen might not be the only reason you’re packing on the pounds. Learn why some people gain weight on a diet and make sure it never happens to you.

Way To Find Cheap Prom Dresses

September 5th, 2010 by Tracy Rocelyn

As girls all over the country prepare for prom you will find some of these girls who have the hard life of the tight budget. We all know that prom attire is almost as significant as the wedding dress a woman wears to their wedding, so this can be a stressful situation for a young lady. On the other hand, there is nothing stopping you from finding the deal of your life in the event you just take the time to go to bargain hunting.

Affordable prom outfits aren’t necessarily everywhere being discovered once you near the date of your prom, simply because as prom nears everyone is searching for apparel, along with the stores won’t be marking down costs when demand is high. Instead, start out searching for your gown way ahead of the important evening. Some suggest starting as early as six months beforehand, and this is probably not a poor notion should you wish to be able to pick up attire on sale.

You can also go on the net to uncover your prom gown, as you are going to discover thousands of diverse gowns readily available to you. The average price of a prom dress bought around the World Wide Web should be at least 10% lower than attire bought offline. However, it doesn’t stop there! If you are going to wait to get a local shop to put their outfits up for sale you’ll need to be extremely patient, since it may never happen. Nevertheless, within the Internet you’ll find often many shops that have sales, either due to the fact they are clearing out older merchandise or mainly because they are trying to attract clients like you. You see, the marketplace is much bigger on the net, along with the competition for your cash is stronger than to get a local shop that has a monopoly on the nearby area or town.

If you’re searching for prom attire under 100 dollars, Amazon.com is really a wonderful place to look. They have prom dresses starting as low as 20-30$, which are straightforward, yet gorgeous. Goojane.com is one more on-line shop that has a nice collection of inexpensive prom gowns. Just do a search online for “cheap prom dresses” and you are going to have sufficient results to browse to fill a couple of hours.

Now, what if you’re eyeing a designer prom gown but can’t afford one? Well, have you considered wearing pre-owned prom attire? This might sound like an awful notion, but whenever you begin thinking about it, these dresses are typically in mint condition; they’ve been drying cleaned, and usually start at 50% off the price of the new prom dress.

Learn more about prom dresses under 100. Stop by John Willy’s site where you can find out all about corsets and bustiers and what it can do for you.

Can Christian Dating Services Work For Me?

August 31st, 2010 by Alfred Lancer

Believe in yourself first

Are you wondering if online dating is for you as a Christian woman or man? Have you almost given up hope of finding that perfect partner for your life?

As a Christian, it is important to remember that God has a plan and a purpose for our lives (Jeremiah). He wants far more for us than we want for ourselves.

The Bible says “Love your neighbour as yourself” - which clearly means that we have to love and care for ourselves first, before we can truly love anyone else.

Traditionally, Christians, and often women, have had a priority list that looks something like this:-

1. God 2. Husband/wife 3. Kids 4. Family/parents 5. Work 6. Church 7. Myself & my own needs

Don’t be fooled - this may feel like the “Christian” thing to do - but this is not God’s model for success.

Yes, we are called to serve, but not at the cost of sacrificing ourselves utterly. Jesus met his own needs for food, shelter, quiet times away with God - he didn’t try to go all out without making time for the important things which enabled him to carry on.;

A Christian priority list should read more like this:-

1. God 2. Myself 3. Husband/wife 4. Kids 5. Family & friends 6. you get the idea!

Don’t let any man or woman define you - instead, know who you are in Christ.

If you are looking for meaning & purpose, you will not find it in any one person, except in Jesus alone.

These priorities will help you when you find your marriage partner. So often in marriage, mistaken priorities can lead to the destruction of a marriage. Your ministry and your job should come after your husband or wife. Don’t put your ministry or career before your partner - they don’t depend on you anyway - they depend on God. Your partner and children need you today, your ministry or career will wait tomorrow. (Remember, no-one is every known to have said on their deathbed that they wished they’d spent more time at the office!)

Remember, “be kind to yourself” . Be involved in activities outside of your work and relationship, keep your friendships, have interest, care for other people.

If you can be confident that you are loveable, then you will have the confidence to be yourself in a relationship and still expect to be loved. This is the first step to starting a successful and lasting relationship.

This Is Your Chance To Change Your Life Style Now

July 22nd, 2010 by Roy Adams

Now that I pissed off all of the treadmill and elliptical machine worshipers… let me say that in case you actually take pleasure in mindlessly pumping away on a treadmill or elliptical (or train bike for that matter too), then by all means, hold doing what you enjoy, because having fun with your train is among the most important elements to sticking with any exercise program…

Nevertheless, do not say that I did not warn you that you simply had been losing your time with all that mindless cardio machine boredom. If I have never mentioned it before, I do not believe in cardio machines, and to be fairly honest, I don’t think I’ve personally used a treadmill, elliptical, or exercise bike for at least the final 7-8 years or so.

As a matter of truth, I do not even use cardio machines anymore for warmups earlier than a exercise (did earlier than sometimes)… These days, I want to do dumbbell or kettlebell snatches and swings mixed with bodyweight workouts as the proper full physique warmup at the beginning of my workouts. So why do I have such hatred for cardio machines? Properly, right here goes: Treadmills, ellipticals, and train bikes are mind-blowingly BOOOORING! Senseless regular state cardio train whereas watching television or reading creates a thoughts / physique disconnect resulting in poor results out of your exercise routine

Treadmills and ellipticals are ridiculously expensive and a waste of cash for those who exercise at home… there’s so many higher choices for home exercises you possibly can have spent your cash on slightly than wasting it on a treadmill, bike, or elliptical. The proper residence health club setup is MUCH cheaper… there is no motive you need something other than a bounce rope, body weight workouts, a number of dumbbells, stability ball, possibly a couple of kettlebells (if you want to get fancy), and perhaps excessive tension bands for some extra variety. And of course… the nice outdoors has some of the finest workout choices of all… mountaineering, mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding, sports, and more! By the way, listed here are some nice adjustable dumbbells which can prevent large time cash in case you’re organising your personal house gym.

5) Treadmills and elliptical machines are only a very ineffective method to exercise in comparison with other options.
