The Best Pair Of Prom Shoes To Go With Your Dress
March 7th, 2010 by Allison Rossino
Going to the high school prom is one of the most important events that you will ever attend while you are still a teenager. For many girls it is an event that takes many weeks or even months of preparation. You must first of all find a date or decide that it will be more fun to go single with all of your best girl friends. Once you’ve decided who will be a part of your entourage, you can start getting down to the all important details of what you will wear. After you’ve chosen a date and your dress, you are ready to move on to accessories, especially the all important prom shoes.
It is important to wait until you have chosen a dress or at least narrowed down your dress choices to possibly two or three different options. The reason for this is that you’ll want to know which dresses you are considering and what styles of prom shoes will look best with it. One of the most important things about choosing prom shoes is getting the colors to match just right. As you might imagine, this is really difficult when you don’t have any idea which colors and/or patterns will be included in the dress.
When trying to match prom shoes with your dress, it is a good idea to keep some key basic rules in mind. Most importantly, if you are going to be wearing a sleek, classy dress that features a solid color or dramatic cut, you should strongly consider choosing prom shoes that are a little bit more on the flashy or glamorous side. This is important because the two elements of your outfit will not be competing for attention. If you are wearing a short black dress, for instance, perhps you should try wearing strappy heels in a metallic color.
If you are wearing a dress that is flashier all on its own, then might want to tone down your prom shoes by wearing something that is a little simpler or more classic. This will allow people to keep their attention on your dress where it belongs instead of wondering why you chose to wear those shoes. If you are wearing a patterned dress or a dress with a lot of flashy features like sequins or lace, you should opt for a more plain shoe in a solid color.
The whole point of prom night is to rock out, look and feel your best, and simply have a wonderful and memorable time. Once the stress of choosing what you are going to wear passes you can get back to planning just how you’re going to have that fun. So plan ahead, do some research, perhaps take a bit of advice from a girlfriend with style you admire and make sure you have a complete outfit that will make your night one to remember and of course, don’t forget the all important prom shoes.
With some proper planning your outfit will suit your height and body shape and let your prom shoes be the cherry on top.
