The simplest things are often the most effective.

Moms will agree that waiting to meet their baby is that hardest part of being pregnant. You have to wait nine long months with no guaranteed day of labor to mark on the calendar. Physicians have never been able to and may never be able to give moms an exact date of when labor will happen or what causes it to happen. All they can tell you is that labor will happen when your body is “ready”. This is usually anytime after your baby has reached a gestational age of 37 weeks. To get your body ready, doctors will tell you the first thing you need to do is relax. To ease stress moms can try simple such as warm (not too hot) baths with gentle aromatherapy, relaxing belly or professional pre-natal massages, or reading books on pregnancy and childbirth. You can also try meditating in a quiet room or setting up your baby’s nursery.

These techniques will help get your body ready, physically and mentally, to try other techniques of inducing labor at home. Your physician will strongly suggest you practice caution with at-home methods of inducing labor and to only attempt these techniques if you have reached at least 37 weeks in your pregnancy.

Physical Stimulation Sex is a very popular and easy method of inducing labor at home. While many women are uncomfortable with the idea of having sex so late in pregnancy, others are willing to try it because of its high likelihood of success.. A man’s semen contains hormones called prostaglandins, which help the cervix thin and soften. The longer the semen is in contact with the cervix the better because it will help the cervix dilate and become ready for active labor. Another advantage to sexual intercourse is the possibility of uterine contractions when the woman experiences an orgasm.

Another activity some women may not be too comfortable with is nipple stimulation. This technique causes the release of a hormone called oxytocin which can cause uterine contractions. Rubbing your nipples between your fingers for at least 15 minutes each several times a day helps trigger the release of oxytocin. Use this method with caution as it is known to bring on very strong, painful contractions in some women. This method is usually only recommended if your due date has been reached or passed.

Walking is probably the easiest and most recommended method of inducing labor at home. Low impact exercise like walking does not over-work your body but allows for just enough pressure on the cervix. Walking also helps rock the pelvis and allows the baby to reposition and get ready to enter the birth canal.

Diet Changes, Herbs, and Oils Eating spicy food can also help to naturally induce labor. The strong herbs and spices in most spicy food help stimulate the bowels which can in turn stimulate the uterus to contract. It is also rumored that certain tropical fruits, such as pineapple, contain enzymes that are believed to trigger mild uterine contractions.

Evening primrose oil and castor oil are natural oils that can also be used to naturally and safely induce labor. Medical studies have yet to prove the actual effectiveness of these oils but many women can attest to their results. Mixing a dose of castor oil with another liquid or food makes it easier to drink and digest. This oil is said to help stimulate the bowels and uterus. Primrose oil is found in gel caps that can be taken orally or inserted vaginally for greater effect on cervix softening and thinning.

An herbal specialist or midwife can provide you with plant roots called cohash. Those that have tried this method claim that blue and black cohash aid in inducing labor at home, though there are few medical studies that prove their effectiveness.

Making the decision to breastfeed or use formula is an important decision for your young newborn. You want to make the right decision for your family. The leading trend right now is to choose formula because of the ease, but I find that there are better reasons to choose breastfeeding

Every womans breast milk is designed specifically for their newborn and no substitute will be able to fully provide all that the breast milk does. The AAP says that babies should only be breastfed for the first 6 months of their lives.

I think they do this because of all the wonderful nutrients found in breast milk that are missing from everything else. Also, breastfeeding is a bonding period for the mother and the baby. Ive talked to so many mothers who have done both and prefer breastfeeding because of this bond alone.

I had one mother tell me about how she still has feelings of regret for not feeding one of her daughters. She wasnt educated very well on the dos and dont of breastfeeding, and she told me how she wishes so bad she could have breastfeed that daughter like she had with her other children because she loved the bonding feeling it created with them.

Breastfeeding is a personal decision. Some women for one reason or another were never able to breastfeed. This at times can bring feelings or guilt or failure. You should never have to feel as if you are or arent a good mother.

If you have questions about breastfeeding, talk with a friend, doctor, or nurse. They will be able to help answer your questions. If you have chosen to use formula for other reasons, become educated in the different kinds because every child reacts differently to each type of formula.

Breast milk has so many things in it that arent found anywhere else. Breast milk can help strengthen your baby as well as help it fight off infections, sudden infant death syndrome, allergies, obesity, and asthma. The list goes on.

Formulas are becoming better at imitating breast milk but have yet to duplicate it. Because of the complexity of natural breast milk, some nutrition for young ones has yet to be put into a formula.

If you are a penny pincher like I am, this is just another reason why you will want to choose breast feeding. Formula can be very expensive but breast milk is free and you will always have enough.

Breastfeeding also helps the mother out. It will help her burn calories so she can go back to her pre-pregnancy shape. Breastfeeding will also help her shrink her uterus back to its natural size.

As everyone knows, toys are mostly associated with children and play. However, with that said, it can be fairly common some animals and human adults to play with toys as well. There are millions of toys which have been made to be just that, toys. But there are items that have been made for different reasons which will sometimes be used as toys as well.

You might find a young child “flying” an everyday inanimate object around, making believe it’s an aeroplane, or, just as likely if not more so, you may see an animal playing around with a ball of string, chasing it and throwing it around. And where some items that aren’t toys can be played with, there are toys that are made specially as collectibles, not intended for playing with.

The origin of the toy dates back to before any kind of records began; dolls depicting babies, animals or fighting men, as well as models of tools used by adults are often recovered at archaeological sites. Where the word “toy” came from, we do not know, but it is believed that it was first introduced to the language in the 14th century.

Toys, and general play, are very important in terms of growing up and learning more about the world. Children use toys and play to discover their identity, to aid their body’s development, explore relationships, and practise the adult skills all of us come to need.

It is known for adults to use toys and play to exercise their mind and body, to form new social relationships and strengthen existing ones, to remember things from childhood, to develop further practical skills and to decorates their homes. Toys, although they seem to be for simple light entertainment, in actual fact they have a big influence on the turnout of our lives

Child Development: Play and toys serve several purposes in animals and humans. Just as proper nutrition is important for your baby’s welfare, so is hygiene and cleanliness. Babies have little or no control over their bodily functions, so they expel a lot of waste, and keeping them clean can be a daunting task.

It is a fact that, less than thirty years ago, disposable diapers were considered something of a luxury while today they are the norm and people using cloth diapers for their babies are considered to be strange. There are several reasons that modern parents may choose to utilize a cloth diaper instead of a disposable diaper; however, and in some circles cloth diapers are making a bit of a comeback.

The biggest personal reason that a parent may opt to clothe her baby’s bottom in cotton diapers as opposed to disposable diapers is financial. Cloth diapers are simply cheaper than disposable nappies.

Using a cloth diaper is healthier for your child. Babies that use cloth tend to have fewer incidents of diaper rashes. Cotton diapers are made of natural materials, so are less likely to cause skin problems, such as rashes and allergic reactions.

Cotton diapers place less stress on landfills. If thrown into a landfill, cotton diapers decompose within six months. However, with the type of materials used and the amount of processing disposable diapers go through, they remain in landfills for around 500 years.

Gone are the days of complicated folding methods and misplaced safety pins because today’s cloth diapers are pre cut and shaped to cover baby’s nether regions quickly and easily. Now, they also come with Velcro fasteners or snaps for ease in fastening. The best feature of all is that many now have a flushable, biodegradable paper lining that will catch solid waste, allowing it to be easily disposed of in the toilet, so soiled and smelly diapers don’t sit around, and there is no messy job of rinsing the solids away.

Children who wear cloth diaper tend to get toilet trained earlier, since the cloth retains moisture, permitting the child to feel when it is dirty and wet causing them to associate the feeling with elimination.

Only a very small percentage of parents are currently using a cloth diaper but they are still out there and available. Any parent concerned with the cost or environmental impact of disposable diapers should seriously consider going with cloth diapers.
