A Handful Of Processes To Receive Your Optimum Scented Spray

August 18th, 2010 by Rob Saunders

There are thousands of fragrances on the market, making it hard to choose a scent that is ideal for your taste, the occasion, and many other factors. You may find the following tips to your advantage when searching for a perfume for the occasion.

1. Create A Fragrance Budget.

Perfumes vary in price depending on the brand. One way to narrow down your options is to determine your budget before you go shopping.

2. Pick The Type Of Smell You Want.

Decide what type of smell you are looking for depending on the use of the perfume to you. Is it a smell that you will only wear on special occasions? Are you attempting to lure in a mate? Is this going to be your signature scent? If pleasing someone is your goal, do your research on the fragrances that this person likes. Don’t pick an overpowering scent for everyday wear. Make sure scents for big nights on the town are stronger and leave a more lasting impact.

It is important to consider weather and other factors. Humid places are often complemented by a woody musk or a floral fragrance. If you are often times around a lot of people, don’t go for a strong smell, because no everyone likes that. Citrus smells are often fresh and great for someone who is always on the go. To heighten romance on a date, choose a scent that is a bit stronger but not overpowering. Confidence and sophistication can be inferred by an oriental spice. A man who smells like an aromatic blend may give off the impression of security.

3. Before You Buy, Inspect It Carefully.

Look at your choices carefully before you get convinced to buy something in a perfume shop. Your nose may not be able to handle smelling a billion perfumes in one day. Spray a bit on a card before spraying it on every inch of skin you have. If you don’t like it, move on to the next. If you like the scent on a card, you then should test it on your body. Test on the back of your arm or on your wrist. On occasion, a nice saleslady will offer to spray some on her own arm and let you smell it. This is a bad idea because everyone’s skin reacts differently. Make sure the perfume is good for you by testing it on your own skin. Wait a few moments because scents may take a minute to grow on you.

Accessorize Your Apparel On A Small Budget

August 18th, 2010 by Rob Saunders

Difficulties can arise when trying to update your wardrobe on limited funds. A few cheap accessories can fix this. If you pair a simple sweater, slacks and some accessories, it can instantly update an outfit that will get you noticed.

Great Shoes

Get shoes that have the obvious “wow” factor. Pairing great red heels with boring dark trousers will make the pants look better. Do not wear all articles of clothing in red. You may resemble a giant tomato.

Awesome Scarves

Silk scarves are great to use to update a drab turtleneck sweater. Make sure the color of the scarf is complementary to your skin since it will be so close to your face. Mixed colors and vibrant patterns will make the scarf more versatile, allowing you to wear it with more outfits.

If you prefer a scarf that isn’t silk, you can choose a winter friendly scarf made of cotton or wool. You can find amazing handcrafted accessories online and through the artist’s website. They can also be found in boutiques and gallery shops.

Original Purses

A wicked and wild handbag is another way to make your outfit pop. Bright colors and wild fabrics with patterns and textures are the pieces you want to pick. Buying a handcrafted handbag will ensure that you won’t see anyone else with the same one. Throughout the country, there are great artists who practice the art of handwork. When on a tight budget, one-of-a-kind items can be original and also inexpensive. Another thing to remember about handcrafted garments is that they are made to last.

Statement Jewelry

If jewelry is your thing, go for big pieces that stand out. A large pair of hoop earrings may be all that you need to turn heads. If necklaces are more your thing, chunky ones with stones or other natural elements are a great choice. You can also wrap a necklace several times around your wrist to create an unusual multi-layered bracelet. There is no way anyone else will be wearing the same creation the same way.

The Way to Get Great Style Cheap

Restraint is the key word when you try to update your wardrobe with the use of accessories. To put it simply, don’t go over-the-top. Whether you want to focus on the handbag, jewelry, or shoes, just pick one focal point. So for example, if you decide to wear a pair of way-out shoes, stick with a dark and minimal handbag and go easy on the jewelry. A vital piece of achieving high style is knowing when to stop.

A Few Fashion Essentials For Men

Everyone wants to look good. Whether you are someone who wants to be on the cutting-edge of fashion or you want to just look your best, you need to have a base of clothing to build your wardrobe on. You should choose a pair that has a straight fit, which will fit properly and add a modern flair to your look. Simply add a basic white shirt and a jacket, and you can go anywhere and not look out of place. Dark jeans are a vital article of clothing.

White Shirt - Every man regardless of age needs a sharp white shirt. This is a classic piece that can dress up jeans, hold up a blazer, or take you out for a formal evening under a suit. Those men with trim frames should get theirs in a slim fit. But no matter your current fitness level, you need a crisp, sharp, very white shirt because it is a staple in your wardrobe. It goes with so many ensembles. Some men even have two on hand just in case.

V-neck Sweater - For the fall and winter months a v-neck sweater is an essential asset to your wardrobe. A blend of cashmere and wool will not only last a long time and be very comfortable but it will also offer a stunning look. The only style decision you will need to make is to go layered or wear it as is.

Hoodie - No closet can be complete without a hoodie. Let’s face it guys look great in a hoodie. Whether it is zipped or unzipped a hoodie can be a tremendous asset to your fashion sense. Just be sure not to wear those with logos and pictures as it tends to make a man’s style look a bit immature. Solid colors are the way to go.

Gray Suit - The trend for this year is a grey suit, but this suit was a must-have before. You can interview in this suit or dress it down for a date or meeting friends. You can put the jacket on over top of a v-neck t-shirt and you are all set for a night out with your best pals.

Stonewashed Jeans - Environmental Concern Is Always In Style, As Is Denim

August 9th, 2010 by James Cameroone

Years ago environmentalists complained thatstonewashed jeans, incurred a heavy environmental price for that amazing distressed look. In the production process of manipulating fabrics to attain that distressed look and feel, manufacturers were going to great lengths to keep up with the industry, even if it required compensating with an environmental impact.

There have been reports of environmental poisoning of toxic run-off from factories that used to distress and help produce stonewashed jeans. This run-off was more often than not laden in blue dye and chemicals such as sulfur, caustic soda and hydrocyanic acid. Large quantities of potassium permanganate were also found, a chemical once used to induce abortion was being found in the local water supply!

Tree huggers try and claim that using the technique to soften jeans to give it a washed look takes 5 gallons of water and the amount of energy it takes to power a home for a day. But this old school method is no longer employed.

They also maintain that cotton is one of the most pesticide laden crops in the United States, resulting in the contamination of local groundwater, destruction of biodiversity and endangering the lives of farmers and local communities. In the past, denim required 1 pound of pesticides to make one pound of jeans. Now over 10,000 pairs of stonewashed jeans can be produced with a single gallon of water and no pesticides whatsoever. My oh my technology has improved fashion in so many ways!

So as you can tell by now, stonewashing is a bit of a misnomer at this point. Hardly any water is even used in the process. Environmentalists around the world may now rejoice! They too can now wear stonewashed jeans without sacrificing any moral ground.

Stonewashed Jeans - Denim Weekly- Stonewashing Is Back!

August 9th, 2010 by James Cameroone

Stonewashed jeans are sweet. The method used to make basic blue jeans is a mystery. Cotton thread is dyed blue and woven together by Leopardkeets - supernatural flying animals that are half parakeet half leopard. Stone-washed jeans are even more mysterious then regular jeans. To make stone-washed jeans one must fill a large industrial washer with a combination of jeans and small stone-faced children. When the dryer is turned on the children pound the jeans until soft and weathered.

What? This is wrong? Maybe I should do some research? Because I like stonewashed jeans so much, below is the real story as to how stone-washed jeans are made.

Start by getting some jeans. Jeans, for those that don’t know, are pants or trousers made of denim. As a point of clarification, Jeans are also called “dungarees” by people who smell like soup and watch Matlock. Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This weaving produces the diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric. The ribbing distinguishes denim from cotton duck. Quack? Jeans are usually blue because denim itself is usually blue, but stone-washed jeans can be any color at all. Stone-washed jeans could be black or red or white or canary or periwinkle.

Best I can tell, jeans are as American as going to war for oil. But the cheapest jeans are made in Indonesia and Thailand so save yourself some money and buy your jeans in bulk from the poverty-stricken Asian country of your choice. You might find more info on buying jeans online.

After you get your jeans, they must be washed with stones. Duh. The hard part is finding and purchasing a big dryer with a cylindrical drum inside in which you can place the jeans and the stones. This industrial stone-washing dryer will set you back about $10,000 bucks. Gotta spend money to make money. Now that you have a large industrial dryer to put the jeans and stones into, you then must get the stones. You can use pretty much any igneous or volcanic rock you want. Some people use pumice. I prefer to use fossilized sequoia trees.

Power on the dryer after you put the jeans and the stones directly inside. As the cylinder inside the dryer spins, the tumbling stones ride up the paddles inside the drum and fall back down onto the jean fabric. The denim becomes quite distressed.

Now you have produced your own homemade Stonewashed jeans and you’re ready for that Bret Michaels concert.

Stonewashed Jeans - Fashion Forward Forever

August 9th, 2010 by James Cameroone

Over the years one may struggle with the appropriate look or fashion trend to settle with. Indeed with artists like Lady Gaga out there, the “bar” for what is fashionable seems to be constantly “adjusted” - I can’t say whether it is rising or falling, but I know it is fluctuating! At any rate, luckily for me one thing has never gone out of fashion- stonewashed jeans ! I love them.

I have been wearing stonewashed jeans since my days as a youth in Brighton. I remember seeing the Rolling Stones for the first time in London and thinking to myself, “I’m never wearing anything but stonewashed jeans for the rest of my life.” Mick was wearing what could easily be defined as the predecessor to the “hipster uniform” so prevalent in today’s smelliest hipster neighborhoods like Williamsburg in Brooklyn New York and Silver Lake in Los Angeles.

Black, skinny legged stonewashed jeans and a ripped tank top that looked like he had been purposefully spilling shit on for the three weeks prior. Hipsters rule! Wait, no they super blow. And stink like poop. But stonewashed jeans are the business, that I know for sure.

When I began the 9th grade in school, I was one of the few kids savvy enough to be stone washing my own jeans. Since I grew up in working class Brighton, most families didn’t have enough money to outfit their children in stonewashed glory. Luckily being the go-getter youth I was, I learned how to stone wash jeans with a simple moisturizing and sanding process.

This process became so popular in Brighton that stonewashed jeans were initially referred to as “James-washed Jeans” in my region. Something about the alliteration always tickled their tummies I think. Because after that term died out, the more popular/longer standing term “Cameroone Crazy Crinkled” jeans became the more favored term. Those drunkards in Brighton love their alliteration!

Fashion trends minvariably are going to dive and dodge around, so have only one strong suggestion- stick to your guns! If you feel comfortable and sexy and confident in a particular look, you should just keep refreshing that look to meet up with the trend of the times. That is why I always side with stonewashed jeans, they are totally “my thing”. There are so many different ways I can spin the look, whether business casual or rock and roll all night long, stonewashed jeans are incredibly versatile. I suggest you find your one true clothing necessity, then go from there. Once you have the anchor, everything else settles in to place.

James loves Stonewashed jeans and so should you!

Stonewashed Jeans - Levi Strauss Made Denim History Happen

August 8th, 2010 by James Cameroone

In its humble beginnings when silk and satin dominated the high end fabric markets and well before stonewashed jeans came into popularity, jean cloth was produced from a variety of items. However, in the eighteenth century as trade, slave labor, and cotton farms became more pervasive and exploitative, jean cloth was derived entirely from cotton. Workers liked it because the material was very tough and it did not wear out as quickly as other materials such as wool. It was usually dyed with indigo to give it its blue coloration, a dye taken from plants in the Americas and India.

In 1848 the California Gold Rush became dawned the attention of the eyes of the world. The gold miners needed clothes that were tough and did not tear easily. In 1853, a man called Leob Strauss left his home in New York and moved to San Francisco, where he started a wholesale business, supplying clothes- mostly denim to prospectors and their workers. Strauss later changed his name from Leob to Levi. Big surprise. What the heck kind of name is Leob?

One of the main issues the miners encountered was the weakness of their pockets, which easily tore away from the jeans. A man called Jacob Davis had the idea of using metal rivets (fasteners) to hold the pockets and the jeans together so that they wouldn’t separate as willingly.

Davis wanted to patent his idea, but he didn’t have enough money, so in 1872, he wrote to Levi Strauss and offered Strauss a deal if Strauss would pay for the patent. Strauss accepted, and he started making copper-riveted ‘waist overalls’ (as jeans were called then). It was a partnership that would endure generations to come.

In 1886, Levi got brand savvy and sewed a leather label on their jeans. The label showed a picture of a pair of jeans that were being pulled between two horses going in opposing directions. This was to advertise how absurdly strong Levi jeans were: even two horses could not tear them apart. In the 20th century, Levi began experimenting with many different washing strategies, including the early stages of the process that creates stonewashed jeans, which we’ll cover in next week’s denim round up!

Stonewashed jeans are awesome!

Piercing Tongue

August 7th, 2010 by Imad Zacky

Important Tongue Piercing Information

If you’re thinking about getting a tongue piercing, what you are doing what’s right by researching the benefits and drawbacks first. Tongue piercings are very popular for plenty of reasons… are it for shock value, appearance, or pleasure enhancement (to name just one or two reasons). If you’re considering a tongue piercing - included but not limited to piercing of the tongue, tongue web, or uvula - there are lots of important factors you must consider before getting pierced.

Before we delve into the universal risks, each piercing possesses his own set of aftercare and precautions to understand. The most typical oral piercing is of course the tongue piercing, which to a professional piercer is just about the easiest piercings to perform. Usually performed directly through the biggest market of the tongue (although the tongue can be pierced in other places - but talk to your piercer first!) and the jewelry of choice is always a barbell. The barbell jewelry is used because tongue piercings will become swollen for a couple days to a week after the initial piercing, and the barbell can accommodate the swelling. Over time of 4-6 weeks, the jewelry can be replaced.

After a tongue piercing, it is STRONGLY advised not to smoke, engage in oral sex, or kiss. Proper cleaning ought to be done frequently, because the mouth is stuffed with bacteria. Although saliva is the body’s natural way of combating harmful bacteria, with an open wound say for example a piercing, the odds of infection do increase. With an open wound for instance a tongue piercing, the chance of diseases being transferred is greater too, including the Hepatitis strains and HIV. Heed the advice given to you by your piercer to prevent serious and unhealthy scenarios!

The tongue web, formerly called the frenulum linguine, is located beneath the tongue. This can be a piercing that’s not applicable to everyone - some folks don’t have tongue webs pronounced enough to pierce! Many piercer refuse to get this done piercing, not because of any extraordinary risks per say, but because most people don’t clean their tongue web piercing frequently enough (which leads to plaque build up) or can’t keep their tongue on the top of their mouth during the piercing. If you undertake get this piercing, clean it regularly because it is an open wound in the mouth and therefore prone to infection. If the piercing is not deep enough, the body will “reject” or “push out” the piercing - not particularly harmful, but unpleasant and should be avoided the same.

The final piercing that is wholly located within the mouth is considered an extreme piercing and it’s also still very rare (and some may argue, completely impractical even by piercing standards). The Uvula, informally known as the “dangle thing” or “punching bag” located at the back of the throat by the tonsils, can be pierced. Most piercers will not perform this, even though the procedure is simple. Many individuals don’t have their gag reflex controlled enough to successfully do the piercing (just imagine the hazards of gagging with a sharp needle in your mouth!), and the uvula is very active pierce of tissue hence the potential for the body rejecting the piercing is very real. Jewelry that is rejected will almost definitely be swallowed, which can pose health risks.

This information is not to put you off getting a piercing of the tongue, tongue web, or uvula, but it’s not wise to trapeze into a piercing parlor (and side note: don’t even THINK about getting an oral piercing anywhere other than a sterile professional piercing parlor) to get an oral piercing on impulse. To prevent infection or rejection, consider your lifestyle: Do you smoke? This alone will definitely harass your new piercing and prolong the healing process. Are you orally fixated, therefore prone to tinkering and playing with your jewelry? Constant playing with tongue piercings can cause irreversible damage to the gums and teeth. Are you getting surgery soon? Your oral piercing will need to come out - surgeons insist on it to prevent surgical complications - and once you come out of anesthesia, your piercing will be completely healed. Have you had a tongue pierced before and also get it re pierced? Some piercers will refuse on the basis that scar tissue is very difficult to pierce through. Listen to your intuition. If your gut feeling is saying not to get an oral piercing, do not do it! Should you get an oral piercing, seriously consider your body. If something is wrong, your body will show you!
