Losing Weight in Menopause and to Burn More Fat

Women have many things going on at the same time during menopause. Weight gain becoming part of that picture is, often, the least welcome, adding more distress and frustration. Women in their 40’s and 50’s going thru menopause have a difficult time trying to lose weight. But it isn’t menopause that’s causing the weight gain, as women should know. What really happens is that while menopause is going on, so is the natural slowing of the body’s metabolism.

Men are affected by this, too. The most obvious places the fat settles on a woman are the belly and hips, which just happen to be the most problematic spots for a woman. Is being overweight an inevitable, new fact of life for middle-aged women? The answer is not just, “no,” but is a resounding, “NO!” Effective methods of losing weight will return the thinner frame to the determined older woman. If the question is, “why does weight gain happen?” then the answer is because people ingest more calories than they burn off. Taking in fewer calories is one solution to weight loss during menopause. Going on a diet is not even necessary to lose weight. Just eat the right foods-healthy ones-and do so in moderation.

Fact is dieting can even be detrimental in ones efforts to lose weight. This is because diets usually trigger a phenomenon known as the yo-yo syndrome. Crash diets are notorious for bringing about this effect. Remember, you don’t have to deprive yourself to lose weight. All you need is to develop a healthy eating habit that you can follow for the rest of your life.

Regular exercise is also good to incorporate into your habits. A brisk walk in your own neighbourhood or local park is a very effective activity for losing weight and is very easy to do. Three or four times a week will be enough to affect the weight loss change you seek. Regular exercise is quite necessary for the loss of weight during menopause.
