Wedding Photographers: Finding Mr or Mrs Right
September 30th, 2009 by Paige Monserai
If you’re looking forward to your wedding soon, you’ll probably be doing a lot of planning. Don’t forget to hire the photographer. You might think you can just ask someone in the family to take some snapshots, but there’s a huge difference in quality between professional photos and amateur ones.
Of course, before you hire anyone to help with your wedding, you have to know what you’re looking for. You need someone who believes that you and your wedding are important, rather than treating you like just another job. Don’t you deserve personal treatment from your wedding photographer, after all?
Wedding photographers have an exciting opportunity in front of them. They have the option to capture expressions and important moments on one of the biggest days of your life. A wedding is an important event, when you’re surrounded by family and friends and making a commitment that’ll change your life forever - you deserve to have it captured properly.
That’s why you need to pick a photographer who really knows what they’re doing and is has the training to work on your wedding. This person should be able to understand any kind of wedding, from contemporary to themed to traditional ceremonies. A good photographer takes the time to understand what you want out of your wedding and your pictures, and will help you get it.
Everyone should be able to be themselves in their wedding pictures, from the bridge and groom to the guests. There are far too many examples of stiff, unnatural wedding photography out there. You don’t want your wedding pictures to join them!
Your wedding photographer needs to have high quality equipment that allows for taking detailed, high quality images, and he or she needs to know just how to use it. Retouching shouldn’t be the solution to all photographic problems. There’s nothing wrong with a little, but it should be done carefully, on an image that’s already beautiful.
Remember to look for extras, including easy payment methods, album planning and photo planning consultations, and more. Consider having a couple’s portrait session before the big day - that’ll let you get to know your photographer and help your photographer understand your unique personality. You’ll get some truly memorable images out of the session.
You should see your photos in a relatively short time after the wedding, be able to plan your album, and receive it within a month or two. While your photographer should be willing to offer allowances for a faster turnaround, it’s important not to rush things. Patience and the choice of a great photographer are what you need to make sure that you have the wedding and wedding photos of your dreams.
High quality wedding photos serve to remind you all those great wedding day memories. If you’re willing to take the time to make sure that yours are beautiful, you’ll have the wedding pictures you’ve always wanted.
