Safety is always at the forefront of patients’ minds when they take part in a surgery. As a kid I vividly remember my fondness for drawing and making artworks. This fondness I carried through during my high school years when I joined our school’s Painting curriculum. Painting makes me relax and the activity takes away all of the stress that I experience during the day. I already am well-versed through using watercolors and acrylic mediums. I would like to try out Oil painting next.

Oil painting is very different from painting with watercolors. Water color is done by mixing the cake palette with water in order for the color to flow into the brush. It is water based and oftentimes thin and transparent. You have very little control of your colors in case of transparency since watercolor is generally quick to dry out. It is also hard to create an opaque color scheme with watercolor.

Oil based acrylics tend to flow freely but can leave nasty smudges and stains on the artist’s clothes. Acrylic is harder when dry and more opaque compared with watercolor. It does not flow freely compared to watercolor. Acrylics can either be water based or oil based. It is often used in large compositions since it much easier for the artist to mix and match colors using acrylics.

Oil painting is generally more preferred by artists since it is more workable and produces a more vivid and striking color palette. Almost all of the artists nowadays use oil paints in their compositions, a proof of its rising popularity. Working with oil paints are relatively easier for some artists who want to produce a quality painting in a short period of time.

Lucid Dreaming or Conscious Dreaming is the art of being aware that one is actually dreaming. In simple words, while in dream, you are aware that all the events are not happening in fact, or ‘It’s Just A Dream!’ kind of situation. There is certain amount of control you can exercise while lucid dreaming, which is not the case in normal dreams.

The power of having complete control over the direction of your dreams is something straight out of metaphysical existence. Suddenly, all the limitations you ever felt in life just cease to exist.

Is lucid dreaming as straightforward as all that? Is lucid dreaming something which can be experienced by anyone?

In fact, lucid dreaming is not too difficult a task. If you are determined to learn this powerful medium of expressing your inner desires, there are tried and tested ways of achieving this.

You need to know what you hope to achieve through lucid dreaming. Are you after something specific which can help you with other areas of your life, or do you just want to turn your dreams into a playpen of the imagination? Whatever your reason for wanting to learn lucid dreaming, know your goal and be determined to reach it.

Next you have to learn the actual techniques of lucid dreaming. The first step is to learn the process of Dream Recall, which is exactly what it sounds like. You need to begin practicing remembering your dreams in detail. This is a step on the road towards lucid dreaming.

This isn’t going to happen overnight (if you’ll forgive the pun). Many find it helpful to keep a dream recall register, which is a sort of dream diary. Here you’ll write down each detail of your dreams which you can remember. Do this each day. You’ll find it easier the more you practice. Also, start trying to become aware of your dreaming, to get your mind trained to be alert in your dreams.

For a lot of people, hypnosis helps them to prepare their mind for lucid dreaming much more quickly. Sometimes, as few as one or two sessions may be needed to get you being able to recall all of your dreams every day. Once you can do this, you are ready to begin trying lucid dreaming.

When you are lucid dreaming, you may suddenly awake. Don’t worry! Recall the details of your dream and try to go back to sleep and continue the dream in the way that you want. When you awake, you may just be surprised! If successful, your dream will have been under your control and your mind will have a new found power.

Lucid dreaming can also be accomplished by waking up early, then going back to sleep for a few hours. These dreams are the easiest to turn into lucid dreams. You may wonder if you were really dreaming, or just lying in bed thinking! You can simply set an alarm to wake you a few hours earlier than usual, then reset your alarm and go back to sleep; and lucid dreaming.

In this regard, it’s extremely useful to keep track of your sleeping patterns so as to discover the best time to have lucid dreams.

Lucid dreaming can be a helpful practice for those with sleeping troubles such as insomnia. When you are having a hard time getting to sleep, remind yourself that sleep means lucid dreaming; and your subconscious mind will make sure that you get to sleep quickly.

It once was the case that it could take years to learn lucid dreaming; the only way to prepare the mind was meditation, which took a long time to master. While there may be some slight variation in how lenses are packaged from manufacturer to manufacturer, the instructions below will help you open up your contact lens package properly.

Shake an individual lens package gently and check if you can see the contact lenses floating in the enclosed solution. Next, peel back the foil covering carefully to reveal the lens. You can stabilize the lens package by placing it on a flat surface (such as your bathroom counter) in order to avoid splashing. Sometimes, a lens will adhere itself to the foil covering when opened. This will not affect the sterility of your lens.

Handling the Lenses Try to get used to handling the same lens first (right or left) every time so that you develop a habit and dont get mixed up. Remove the lens from the pack or from its storage case and examine it to ensure that it is clean and free of debris or tears. If you notice any damage on the lens, do not use it. Confirm that the lens is not turned inside out by placing it on your forefinger and looking at its profile. The lens should look like a bowl. If the lens edges point outwards, it is inside out.

Placing the Lens in Your Eye Once you have verified that the lens on your forefinger is not inside out, use the middle finger from that same hand to both steady your hand and pull down your lower lid gently. Using your other hand, lift your upper lid. Center the lens and gently place it on your eye. Release your eyelids and blink. The lens will automatically center itself.
