Advice for New Nursing Mums

February 28th, 2009 by Joanne Garrett

Public nursing as a new mum can be daunting, but here is some helpful advice.

Wear helpful clothing: a loose fitting top which is short enough that you don’t sit on it is great. It needs to be loose enough that you can lift it easily, and that it doesn’t hitch up all the way round. Alternatively, breastfeeding tops are designed so that you can get access without lifting your top. These are great if you want to wear a fitted or longish top. Designs vary, and the best ones are cut to flatter the New Mum shape - bigger around the boob and not clingy around the tummy.

A long wide scarf or a pashmina can also be a useful helpas you latch baby on if you want to hide yourself from neighbours. Make sure you pack one in your baby changing bags.

And of course, do remember your underwear! Nursing or maternity underwear is a must, you need to be able to unclip quickly, and get something that fits properly. Try on a few styles in a few different sizes. Try them all on, move about and keep only those that really fit and feel comfortable.

Try to anticipate when baby is hungry, don’t wait for him to be screaming. Lots of babies will have little signs that they’re hungry before they start shouting the place down and drawing everyone’s attention to themselves and Mum. You’ll soon get to know the signs, and when you see them find a good spot and get him attached!

If on the other hand you have baby like my first who would go from sleeping angel to famished and screaming in less than 10 seconds, the best you can do is have an idea of when he’s likely to be hungry and get ready. My little one was such a heavy sleeper I sometimes got him into place on my lap whilst still asleep, waited for him to wake up, then got him latched on before he knew what had happened.

Find a good spot to stop: to start with at least you’ll probably find it easier to feed sitting in a straight backed chair, perhaps in the corner so you can see who’s around, and with a large glass of water to hand. Avoid noisy places if you have a very nosy baby as he’ll be looking around (and trying to take your nipple with him) rather than concentrating on the job at hand. I like coffee shops, there’s always somewhere to sit, drink is on hand, and you have something to do (eat muffins !)

Coach Purses for Fashionable Women

February 28th, 2009 by Joleen Davenport

A purse can either make or break a woman’s outfit. Thus, if you are fond of purses and always try to be fashionable, be sure to get yourself the right purses to be sure you’ll never go wrong.

Purses in bright colored patterns and bold are good choices. They can often lift your spirits. However, they are not a perfect match for formal dresses or semi-formal dresses. Thus, before opting for them, be sure you can find a perfect match for them in your closet.

On the other hand, purses that shines with silky fabric are good choices too. They can make you shine and look gorgeous. However, they are oftentimes not a perfect match for casual dresses. Hence, you can’t use them very much often.

Nowadays, there are a lot of brands associated with purses but the very first brand worth mentioning is the Coach. For years, Coach has been one of the most popular producers of purses and other similar accessories. If you want to get right purses which you’ll never go wrong, you must be very familiar of this great producer.

Every product of Coach shows perfect balance between function and fashion design. And the general shapes, pockets, and straps of every product are also cautiously deemed for users to experience comfort. Materials used are carefully selected and seams are also double-stitched for durability purposes.

Generally speaking, Coach has been mixing up workmanship, fashion, function, and style in their every product.

Well, indeed, Coach purses can be great options most especially to women who always try to be fashionable. However, many critics believe that all Coach products, which of course include purses, are expensive and so just for rich people or the elite. In truth, most Coach products are really expensive. But this of course has a good reason. Coach products are all carefully designed and are from good materials. Although they are expensive, you won’t actually regret spending even a single penny for them.

Nonetheless, if you can’t afford buying new Coach products, try to look for some slightly used ones online. Try to search at eBay or Amazon, they are great places to shop for slightly used items. But just be careful when making deals.

Alpaca Is the New Wool

February 28th, 2009 by Silvia Jens

There are many reasons to buy alpaca products instead of those made out of wool, but while some of these are simply a personal preference, some may actually affect how you wear the garment or when you wear it. Here are the various differences between alpaca and wool.

First of all, alpaca is actually a stronger fiber than wool. Of course, this comparison only works between alpaca and wool that are of the same fineness. A finer piece of wool may be stronger than a less fine alpaca. Alpaca is also much softer and less irritating on the skin, something many people prefer. In fact, this is one of the major points for buying alpaca instead of wool.

Another huge reason for buying clothing and accessories made from alpaca instead of wool is that alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic. This means that it does not include any of the lanolin or dander that causes people to have allergic reactions. For people who can’t wear things made of wool, alpaca makes a great alternative. On the downside, because it does not contain any lanolin, alpaca is not naturally water resistant. This means your alpaca clothing will let through more water than wool would. It will stay cleaner, though, since lanolin tends to hold dust.

Alpaca fibers are mostly or completely hollow. What this means is that they are lighter than wool fibers, which are not hollow, resulting in a warmer garment that doesn’t weigh as much. Wool tends to be very heavy, especially wool coats. When it comes to keeping the wearer warm, however, alpaca gets the job done without relying on weight. In fact, alpaca can actually keep a person around 20 degrees warmer than wool can.

There are a couple of other features that make alpaca a superior fiber than wool. It generally does not mat or pill, although it may pill in garments made from baby alpaca. Likewise, it doesn’t shrink quite as much as wool does when washed. Alpaca also comes in many different natural colors (black, browns, white, rose, silver, and grey), so some alpaca is actually sold without being dyed.

As you can see, there are many different reasons for purchasing clothing made from alpaca instead of wool. While the two are very similar in the process of refining hair into cloth, the final products vary greatly. Alpaca is great for anyone looking for light weight and very warm products that do not cause allergies or skin irritation.

How To Get The Lowest Cost Funeral

February 28th, 2009 by Jack Hammerson

Many senior citizens begin to consider their alternatives concerning burial costs after they reach a certain age, or when there is a death in the family. It is a very real concern. The price of burying a loved one has skyrocketed over the last ten years. The advertisements you see on TV tell us that we can hire a funeral director for about six thousand dollars. What they don’t make clear is that price is their cost and does not include the cost of the burial vault, casket, the grave site and opening and closing the grave. The cost often tops $14,000.00.

There is a much cheaper way to be buried. Cremation is by far the cheapest way to bury a loved one. Most people shrink from the thought of cremation, worried they are doing something against their christian principles or that their bodies will not go to heaven if they cremate a loved one, or themselves. You need not worry. Please remember that your body does not go to heaven. It is your soul that goes to heaven. The body rots in the grave. So, if you have done anything, you have prevented the body from rotting.

Cremation is a very real alternative to burial for one very special reason; you can save thousands of dollars. For the elderly person living on a fixed income, spending thousands of dollars for a funeral is out of the question. They don’t want to create more debt that will be left to their loved ones to pay. If they don’t have the money to pay for a funeral, more often than not, they will be buried by Welfare in a cardboard coffin and a concrete vault that does not seal, letting water soak into the coffin and starting the rotting process faster than normal. None of us want to think of our loved ones rotting in the grave when we could have prevented it.

What can we do to insure our loved ones remains are taken care of respectfully? The cheapest and most respectful way is to cremate the body. With cremation we don’t have to buy anything, except an urn to keep the ashes in. There is no grave to buy, no casket or concrete vault to purchase and no opening and closing costs of hundreds of dollars on top of the grave costs. Cremation allows you to choose to keep your loved one with you or to scatter the ashes over an area that was special to him/her, such as a special fishing spot, or a beautiful wooded locale that was special to your loved one. Maybe he or she was an avid sailor and wanted their ashes spread over the sea. You can do that.

Cremation is the lowest cost funeral you can possibly have. The average cost of cremation is less than $200.00. Some states allow you to provide your own box in which to cremate the body, saving you even more money. It’s your choice, thousands versus a couple hundred dollars. Which is most affordable for you?

2009 Oscar Red Carpet Jewelry Trends

February 27th, 2009 by Jane Anani

Statement pieces were the order of the day from stars on the 2009 Oscar red carpet. Few chose to wear bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings together, instead most chose to wear either a statement wrist cuff or necklace to maximize the glamour without looking overdone.

Perhaps with a nod to the current financial recession the celebrities certainly seemed to be focusing on a single signature piece instead of piling on the bling. In terms of colors and designs, silver seemed to be the front runner in the fashion stakes rather than gold. This gives fans a great opportunity to copy the latest red carpet looks at a fraction of the price.

The message from the Oscars seems to be wear one key piece of jewelry, with very very simple styling, not beaded, and classic rather than edgy. The stars seemed to have been advised to wear either a necklace or a bracelet but not both!

Kate Winslett lead the way with a simple but elegant bracelet with diamond earrings. Supporting actress nominee Taraji P Henson just wore a stunning diamond cuff-style necklace in what appeared to be a flower design.

In contrast, Heidi Klum seemed to get the look wrong and over did it with multiple ladies bracelets and very large sweeping earrings which curved around her face.

Celebrities always want their designer dresses to do all the talking, there were a lot of understated earrings, in button rather than drop styles. Button style earrings always enhance the overall look, but don’t distract from the dress. One star who stepped out wearing the exception to the simple earrings of her contemporaries was Angelina Jolie. Angelina chose to wear large vibrant Fred Leighton emerald drop earrings and a matching emerald cocktail ring. In keeping with the trend though, she appeared without necklace or bracelets so retained a cool, classic look.

For men designer jewellery and decoration, apart from cuff-links, are barely noticeable - we didn’t spot any mens bracelets. Brad Pitt did show off some fancy metallic shirt buttons, and a few other male stars chose to wear a simple silver brooch on their tuxedo lapels.

However the jewelry talking point of the night had to be Mickey Rourke’s choker style mens necklace. Nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Wrestler, Rourke appeared on the Oscar red carpet wearing a pendant around his neck bearing a photo of the his deceased pet Loki the chihuahua, along with his cream Jean Paul Gaultier tuxedo and open-necked shirt.

Know How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks Fast With These Tricks

February 27th, 2009 by Sapphire Rylee

Time is certainly ticking away. With vacation season coming up, some of you cannot wait to hit the beach donning your new bikinis while some of you are mesmerized and cringing in front of the mirror as you examine the new stretch marks marring your thighs. Do not despair and do not rush to your local plastic surgeon just yet for there are now revolutionary skin care lines that are very effective against these stretch marks.

If you have a few weeks to spare before enjoying the sun and sand please do try:

- Stretch Mark Creams With Retinols. Products containing retinol, a close chemical relative of vitamin A, fixes your stretch mark problems by restoring the normal structure of collagen, the protein fiber making up the bulk material of your skin. As an added bonus, retinol also smoothes out irregular textures and lines.

- Vitamins C and E. Whether taken orally or applied topically, these vitamins are certified antioxidants as they target damaging free radicals. Many of these antioxidants are combined with corticosteroids, the latter are anti-inflammatory substances that effectively calms skin swelling. So go grab one of these combination formulated creams to hit two birds with one stone!

- Hydroxy Acids. These substances remove the dead and damaged top layer of your stretch mark to reveal the younger skin cells underneath.

- Lactic Acids Ingredients. Stronger than hydroxy acids use lactic acids with great caution. Start off with the lowest dose then check for any abnormal reactions. If none proceed with use.

- Mineral Crystals. Think of mineral crystals as performing a do-it-yourself microdermabrasion on your skin. Mineral crystals work similarly as hyrdoxy and lactic acids as the crystal granules scrape off the scarred skin cells from your stretch marks.

- Collagen for Stretch Marks. Stretch mark infested skin may at times appear indented and depressed. Topical collagens are not absorbed by the skin but can temporarily plump up the indented areas so as to smoothen the skin surface.

If you already have your flippers and snorkel on here are some really fast tricks to cleverly hide those marks:

- Bronzers. What you cannot get rid off you cover it up with a darker skin tone. Not only will your stretch marks be invisible, you will also impart a healthy glow any beach bum would be proud of. Make sure to always lather up with a strong sunblock while frolicking down the shores.

- Make-Up. Concealers and foundations also work in hiding stretch marks. Just do not go into the water to make sure the make-up does not come of.

- Swimsuit strategy. Wear suits that cover your stretch marks. Opt for a tankini if you are conscious that about the stretch marks across your tummy and hips or don a sarong over your bikini bottom to hide those thighs.

- Fun. Hello! You are at the beach so try to forget about your body issues and focus your attention in other activities such as swimming, playing volleyball, and catching up with your friends.

Family - Leading A Peaceful Family Life

February 27th, 2009 by Tamara Maurer

Keeping good relationships with your entire family is one of the most important parts of life, as they are the people who you will depend upon when things aren?t going so good. So, it is best to be dependable and kind to everyone, even when you are feeling annoyed or even angry. Whether you are the father, mother, son, daughter, brother, or sister, you need to do everything in your power to be a good family member. There are many ways that you can focus on making yourself a better mortal and a better family member to rely upon. Read on to find out about some of them ? you may find out something that will eventually save your relationships.

First you need to learn to put up with some of the things that your family does. When girls start to grow, you might start hearing the latest pop music blaring from their rooms. Instead of letting this get to you with an attitude like ?I?ve been at work all day, why should I have to listen to this?? you should learn to block it out, or even enjoy it if you are feeling up to the challenge. Similarly if your spouse has habits or preferences (or a lack thereof) when it comes to cleanliness, you need to accept that you have differences.

Don?t expect him or her to change to meet your expectations. If you want the house to be cleaner.

You should also make efforts to become closer to your family and get to know them better. Plan family outings, and take dinner with your family on a nightly basis. Keep up to date with what is going on in the lives of your children and spouse. Take it all to heart, don?t just make empty small talk. This may seem like a futile exercise, but by showing this individualized interest you will create bridges and make a stronger relationship. You can also plan family activities. Maybe you can go bowling with the family, or go out to the park and play on the playground.

No matter if your family life is perfect or if it is suffering, you can certainly always have room to improve. Particularly if you have been having troubles lately, you should take steps to prevent things from becoming any worse. It takes a little effort on your part, but you can get your family back to a healthy point, and continue to live with your family in happiness and peace. If you deal with anger problems, you should learn to suppress your anger or use it in a beneficial way. If things are even worse than that, you can talk to a counselor to try to get some advice or guidance.

If your family is not peaceful, disastrous results could be just around the corner. You don?t want to end up divorced, in family court, or with kids who rue your existence. These are extreme examples, but they are very possible if you allow discord to grow between you and your family members.

American Motorcycle Jamboree

February 27th, 2009 by LJ James

American Motorcycle Jamboree

Every Memorial day weekend Me and a bunch of my Bro’s hop on our Motorcycles and pack into Trucks filled with Tents,Sleeping bags,Bar-B-Qs,Beer and many other camping necessity as we head up to the beautiful 100 year old Sunshine Fairgrounds in the scenic Schoharie Valley in Cobleskill NY for the annual American Motorcycle Jamboree, Rally and camp out.

For 25 years now Am-Jam has taken place on Memorial day weekend. In my a opinion it is a weekend that should be spent with Family and for me its the ever growing Am-Jam family. The Am-Jam Family is the name given to the group of volunteer’s who every year do all the behind the scenes work that make Am-Jam the Three day biker Paradise it has become over the years.

As with any family there is that one special someone in charge and for the Am-Jam Family that person is Jeannie Aldos, Some might even call her the Mother of Am-Jam and she has filled the roll perfectly for the past 25 years.

In today’s Motorcycle crazed culture where you can’t turn on the TV or go into a store with out being bombarded with something that has to do with Motorcycles and it seems everyone is putting on a “Biker Event” signs with the words “No Club Colors” are seen more and more often. But not at Am-Jam !!! Jeannie set out 25 years ago to host the Best three day Biker Jamboree and Camp out in New York and to make sure it was open to everyone whether they are an Independent Rider in a Motorcycle Club or just a person who loves the lifestyle. Am-Jam is one of the few Biker rallies and Camp outs left in NY that is truly Biker friendly.

Now If you have never been to Am-Jam let me do my best to try to describe it to you.First you need to Imagine an old fashion Country Fair Grounds .Then picture over where the Carnival Rides would be (and every where else for that matter) Thousands of Tents,Campers,Motorcycles and Bikers. Over in the barn area where one would usually see farmers showing off prize Cows,Pigs and other farm animals,You will instead find it filled with proud Bikers showing off their antique Motorcycles.

The tents and booths on the Midway where one would usually see home made goods, arts and Crafts and some guy trying to get you to spend $5 to win a 10 cent Gold Fish or stuffed animal are instead filled with Custom Motorcycle dealers,Leather goods,Tattoo artists,Clubs selling support gear,Body Piercing,T-Shirts,Patches and Pins,Lady’s Lingerie shops, and every other thing a Biker could need or want.

Over by the Grand Stand and main stage area during the day you find Tattoo contests,a Motorcycle Rodeo with games for those both on and off their Motorcycles and even thou I didn’t see one this year I’m sure there was a wedding or two.

On the Main Stage at Night you have some of the best Rock and Southern Rock Bands in the Northeast playing and in between sets are the leather an lace Fashion Shows by USA Leather along with contests like the best Lady’s Legs and every ones Favorite The Wet T-Shirt Contest.

On Saturday Night at 10pm every year there is a large fire Works display dedicated to all lost veterans and it can be seen for miles around the fairgrounds!

For Those who Forgot or didn’t have room on their Bike for Food and Beer there is always plenty of great food vendors including my morning favorite the all you can eat Pancake Hut where you get Orange juice, sausage links and all the pancakes one can eat (Of Course after being up all night drinking you can only eat so many) for only $5.

Then of course there is the ever popular Beer Tent! The past few years it has been run by the Owner and Staff of the Bad Pig Saloon.

For those who came alone there is the ever popular Girl’s Girl’s Girl’s Tent with some of the Hottest Girl’s Dancing just for you.

Am-Jam seems to be getting Bigger and Better every year, with new and exciting vendors and events every year .The only bad thing I could say about Am-Jam is it just isn’t long enough (I’m Sure members of the Family staff might disagree as it probably seems much longer to them)

After spending three days Camping and partying and having a great time with Bikers from all over, the only thought running threw my head as I watched the Thousands of bikers pack up their gear and head home was how great of a world would it be if Am-Jam was 365 days a year?

But until that happens I have my memories of previous Am-Jam to hold me over to the next ! What Surprises await us at Next Years Am-Jam? If you want to know then you will just have to go. I’ll see you there! Your Bro LJ James AmericanBikerX.com Listen to LJs Radio Show at BikerLowdown.com

The Quick and Easy Way to Gain Muscle Mass

February 26th, 2009 by Allen Brian

Every male wants to gain some muscle mass. But, if you want to do it on your own without using artificial supplements or dangerous steroids, then you need plenty of commitment and discipline to your diet and your physical training. Remember to rethink your schedule and determine the duration of you working out in the gym and make essential change to your diet. For gaining muscle mass, here are 4 hot tips you can use and shape your body up.

Do You Count Sodium

Sodium not only increases our muscle growth and the fluid volume in muscle cell but an essential mineral that our body needs. Although it is good for retaining water, that is not what we want to build muscle. It also helps to increase your carbohydrate storage and absorption of amino acid to your body. Because it can increase the level of fluid in your cells, it can improve your joint leverage and give you more physical strength and allow you to have fewer muscle strains and injuries to soft tissues when you weight train. Sodium also can make our muscle response to insulin faster.

Fish and Other Foods That Contain Omega-3

Fish and foods contain a lot of Omega-3 fatty acids which can help you to gain more muscle mass. Go for fish with tons of omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, mackerel, lake trout, sardines, tuna and herring. There are a lot of Omega-3 fatty acids sources, like walnuts, cauliflower, broccoli, oregano, tofu, soybeans, Brussels sprouts, kale, spinach, mustard seeds and flax seeds. To make our muscle more susceptible to insulin, you can eat foods above, which can help you to store more glycogen and grow more muscle mass. Glutamine is important for helping protein metabolism and prevents muscle from weakening. And eat fish that contains Omega-3 fatty acids can help you with that.

Resistance Training with Free Weights

Want to gain more muscle mass, and then eating the proper diet is not enough. You have to do some resistance-training workout, such like free weight with dumbbells. They would work out your ancillary muscles and build compound mass on them. Wide range of working out is a kind of good exercise and dumbbells is good and versatile equipment for you to do this. This small piece of equipment can be used for many muscle sets in order to gain more muscle mass.

Exercise Regimen Experimentation

No one is born with inert knowing of how their bodies respond to varied exercises. What works for others may not work for you and vice versa. After trying different kind of workout exercises, you can tell which workouts can help you gain more muscle mass. If you want to find out about more of them, there are many websites including my own website that provide information and advice about gaining muscle mass, particularly if you have failed in using other types of exercise.
