Job Title: Work At Home Mom

July 31st, 2008 by Max Foggleman

by Jessica Franks

Women that have young children are beginning to ask themselves and their friends, aHow does a mother find an online opportunity?a Mothers generally want to spend more time with their little ones and working from home to earn money is becoming an ideal situation.

For those of you who are asking the same question, here are a few simple tips. Remember, there are lots of jobs out there and finding them is not really that difficult, if you use all the means at your disposal.

Start by using one of the popular search engines. Enter some keywords, such as, aonline jobs for stay at home moms.a Review the results. Often a forum website will appear, made up of stay-at-home moms like you. These usually have lots to offer. They can provide job leads and much useful advice.

If you already belong to a social network, it can be a great source of job leads. If not, you might consider forming your own, made up of other stay at home Mothers with similar interests. Then everyone can work together to find on-line job opportunities.and support one another in the process.

A third tip is to search for online opportunities on career search websites. In the search field I would suggest typing words such as atelecommutea or awork from home,a to limit the job search to employers who are offering opportunities you are seeking.

Oddly enough, online job opportunities may also be found in your local newspaper listings. Browse the classifieds and look for specific keywords relating to at home work. If the listing provides a link to a website, enter it on your computer and peruse the site to see if the position is something you are interested in.

Finally, you can also visit corporate websites to search for online job openings. Think of some major employers and check their aemploymenta or acareer opportunities\” pages. The number of companies that allow employees to work from home is growing every day.

Try some of my suggestions and you’ll no longer be asking, aHow does a mother find an online opportunity?a Using these tips will help to discover your work at home career options and help you find the perfect online position.

Putting Your Best Face Forward

July 31st, 2008 by Geoff Hopkins

The Fountain of Youth. We’ve all heard of it, the spring that a drink from which grants an eternally youthful body. It is a legend we all at one time or another wish existed. If it did one can only imagine how long it would be before it were completely drained.

Who wouldn’t want to recapture their youth - or at least preserve it as long as possible? There is a wide variety of products, from wrinkle creams to vitamins, designed to do just that. The brisk sales of these anti-aging products demonstrate that, indeed, many women (and men!) intend to keep their skin looking as youthful as it can, well into middle age.

One of the hallmarks of youth is soft, smooth, moisturized skin that is free of laugh lines and creases. Since wrinkles have come to be viewed as one of the “dead giveaways” of a person’s age, manufacturers have developed many varieties of anti-aging moisturizers to launch an all-out attack on encroaching crow’s feet.

Of course, consumers are frequently dubious of any product that makes such claims, and with good reason. What are these magic ingredients, and how do they work? Can anyone really bottle the freshness of teenaged skin? How can you tell which is the best wrinkle cream?

There are several things you can look for. Retinol, a form of vitamin A is the active ingredient in many anti-aging products. Retinol promotes the production of new surface cells as the skin absorbs vitamin A and also increases the amount of collagen in the skin. The net result is more elasticity in the skin and a reduction in the severity of wrinkles. Wrinkle creams based on retinol are often more effective than non-retinol based creams.

Reduction of wrinkles is one step towards achieving more youthful skin. Another popular active ingredient is alpha hydroxy acid - AHA. AHA is a peeling agent. It is present in a very low concentration to avoid damage to the skin, AHA removes the dead skin cells at the surface, exposing new cells beneath. The result is the adding of a glow that we associate with youthful skin.

So, why are some wrinkle creams better than the others? The answer is most likely found in the concentration of the active ingredients. A cream might claim to contain retinol, but it could be present in such a small amount that it would be ineffective. On the other hand, a cream with a higher percentage of retinol might well be very capable of refreshing and plumping the skin for that dewy, youthful look.

It never hurts to ask the question “Why are some products better than others? or “Which wrinkle creams would be most effective?” Asking the question leads to getting the facts you need to make a choice, second best to the “Fountain of Youth” but a good choice nevertheless.

The Art of Hair Weaving

July 30th, 2008 by Marquetta Breslin

by Marquetta Breslin

A woman’s clothing, attitude, and presence are all ways that she can define her personality. Hair weaving is a very popular way of allowing women to express themselves through their hairstyles. Weaves are often called ‘hair integration’ or ‘extensions’.

Weaves of today are far superior to the ones that were available in the 1960s. Back then, hair weaves never seemed to blend with the natural hair, and the resulting style often looked fake. Now, even short hairstyles like bobs, pixie cuts, and other chin-length styles can look even more fabulous when enhanced with hair weaving techniques.

If you’re considering getting a hair weave, there are many different factors to consider. First of all, you will need to choose a type of extension hair to add to your existing hair. Extension hair comes in two basic types: human hair and synthetic hair. Human hair is recommended for most styles because it’s versatile, easy to style with heated styling tools, and gives a desirable ‘natural’ look. Synthetic hair is less expensive than human hair, and often you can find good-quality synthetic hair that can be styled with heated styling tools. The choice is yours.

There are also several different ways of attaching the extension hair to your existing hair. The first method is called the sewn-in method. This method is safest because there are no glues or chemicals used, and it’s healthiest on the hair. The two other methods are ‘bonded’ and ‘fusion’. The bonded method uses a glue adhesive to attach the hair, and the fusion method uses melted wax for application.

Here are some tips for weave care and maintenance:

1. Be sure to visit your stylist at least bi-weekly to ensure your scalp and hair are being well maintained.

2. A hair weave needs tightening or reattaching throughout its lifetime. This is because a weave is blended with your natural hair, and natural hair grows. Make sure to check with your stylist for specific instructions on caring for your new hair weave.

3. Remember that you must not wash your hair for the first two weeks after getting your hair weave. This will allow your weave to set.

4. If you’re using a cotton pillowcase, you may notice your hair weave losing shine night after night. Replacing your cotton pillowcase with a silk pillowcase will help stop this loss of shine.

Even though your new hair weave is a fun and exciting change, remember that your natural hair is still underneath. That means it’s more important than ever to maintain a healthy scalp. Always wash and condition your hair regularly. But beforehand, make sure your stylist explains the proper care for your weave. For example, washing and conditioning a bonded weave can make the tracks slip right out.

The cost of a typical hair weave can vary based on several different factors, such as your location, the type of extension hair used, and the type of weave you are getting. Generally, you should expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $1,500.

With the proper care and maintenance, your weave can give you anywhere from six to eight weeks of beautiful hair.

Discovering What You Can Do About Your Stretch Marks

July 29th, 2008 by Maia Pells

by Maia Pells

Stretch marks are usually blamed on the rapid expansion of the skin. Although this is true, the real culprit for causing stretch marks is the hormones called glucocorticoids. These are secreted by the adrenal glands, which lies on top of the kidneys and the production of this hormone is increased during pregnancy, adolescence, with obesity, weight lifting and Cushing’s disease.

The Real Cause - Cushing’s disease is said to be a result of a tumor in the adrenal gland which causes the gland to excessively produce cortisol, which will cause the person to gain weight and another symptom of this disease is the thinning of the skin. When you look at stretch marks under the microscope, you will see that the layer of the skin called the dermis is thinner than normal. That is why if someone is suffering from Cushing’s disease, the person will also develop stretch marks on the skin. There are actually two types of scars. The newer formed marks are red or purplish in color, while the more matured ones are commonly silver or white stretch marks.

Signs - In the early life of a stretch mark, it is often protruding and still reddish. If you have dark skin, you will not clearly see these marks but they are there. Then they turn purplish or bluish after a while and overtime they become flattened white stretch marks streaks because they already have aged. These unsightly marks will not occur if the dermis is strong.

Tearing Of Tissues - The skin tissues will start to break only if collagen and elastin fibers are prevented from forming. If this happens, the dermis no longer has support and will consequently tear once it reaches its breaking limit. Stretch marks are usually seen on the different areas of the body like the buttocks, hips, breasts, abdomen, and thighs. In addition to tearing, the thinning and flattening of the dermis will also make these marks more visible on the skin.

Stretch Mark Treatment - Most people know what stretch marks look like but many are not familiar with the variety of treatments that can cure them. There are actually different methods to cure each specific phase of the scar. Laser light treatments are effective in removing newly formed scars. This method works by applying a controlled amount of laser beam on the affected are. This beam will break down scar tissues and once these tissues are gone, healthier skin cells and collagen start to develop in the vacated area.

Topical Cream - Some topical creams can also remove stretch marks but if it is stubborn and aged marks that you want to get rid of, you will need a more potent solution for this. There is one cream available in the market that works and penetrates into the middle layer of the skin and its natural ingredients work together to heal the torn tissues and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

Surgical Options - Microdermabrasion can also help remove stubborn and white stretch marks. This procedure uses tiny particles to sand the skin and slowly remove the scarred or discolored tissue. But the stretch marks will not be removed in just one sitting. You will need to go back for more sessions and the number of times will depend on the severity of your scars. However, the best cure for stretch marks is still prevention.

Lose Pregnancy Weight Fast - Five Keys to look Fabulous

July 29th, 2008 by Teresa Brown

by Teresa Brown

Moms who want to lose weight after giving birth can do so by exercising. The goal is to find the most effective ways to reduce your workout time and increase your metabolism, to get a lean, fit body.

1. Strength Training

Weights are a good for losing the baby fat because they work the fat burning tissues of your body, namely your muscles. Not all weight training is the same and thus you should choose resistance weight training because it increases your muscle strength. Resistance training uses any form of resistance such as your body weight or free weights, for example, to work your muscles. You should choose weights that provide some challenge for you to move them, as this will increase your metabolism and burn more calories in the long term.

2. Perform Compound Exercises

In order to maximize your body’s ability to burn the baby fat, you have to recruit as many muscle groups as possible. Compound exercises do just that. It is a form of exercise that engages several muscle groups and this increases the demand for more energy and therefore burns more fat. Doing lunges with dumbbells, for example, works the muscle groups of the leg, back, arms and buttocks.

3. Workout your Body in Pairs

Muscles are paired. You can lose the pregnancy weight efficiently when you work the upper and lower body in your workout session. You can do this by alternating your lower body and upper body exercises. This keeps your heart rate elevated and your metabolism in the fat burning zone. Remember, the more muscle fibers you stimulate, the more fat that your body will burn and this will help you to lose pregnancy weight fast and get you lean and toned.

4. Reps Low and Rests Low

Performing each exercise at maximum intensity with brief recovery intervals is the quick and efficient way to tone your muscles and trim your tummy. Studies have shown that lean muscle formation is stimulated by performing each exercise between 8 to 12 reps and to have a rest of 30 to 60 seconds between each set of exercise. Therefore, you will have the advantage of a workout that burns more calories and does so in less time.

5. Cardio in moderation

Only focusing on cardio as the answer to losing the baby fat will leave you frustrated and getting nowhere fast. Cardio burns calories, as does any form of exercise. What you have to realize is that cardio works on building your heart and leg muscle endurance.

Cardio burns fat for the short term and does not give you lean muscles. The proper way to get toned muscles is by incorporating some resistance training into your weekly workout schedule. You can alternate your cardio training days with your resistance training days to get a more balanced workout schedule.

The sound way to approach your pregnancy weight loss is to strive to live a healthy lifestyle. This includes eating right, exercising regularly and taking care of your mind and soul. Lifelong weight management involves the whole person and not just their body fat. However, by executing these five strategies you can lose your tummy and move yet one-step closer to wellness.

Wedding Planner Guide: Crucial For Your Superb Wedding

July 28th, 2008 by Daniel Falk

by Roberta Claus

A wedding planner guide is essential to help take the stress out of planning your wedding. Every bride wants her special day to go as smooth as silk but let’s face it, unexpected things happen sometimes. There are a huge amount of details that go into every wedding-big or small.

A while back, when I attended my close friend’s wedding, I remember the groom having to dip into his gifts to pay out tips that he thought were included in the cost of his reception. He was horrified that now he wouldn’t have as much money for his honeymoon that he thought he would. It certainly put a damper on the mood of the bride and groom.

Today’s bride and groom are, for the most part, young and have no experience when they enter into a first marriage. For my friend, it was appalling that he had spent so much money on his wedding reception and it didn’t even include everything. He certainly would have benefited by using a wedding planner guide that told him to get all his contracts in writing and know precisely what is included.

No bride or groom wants to have the unexpected misfortune happen on their wedding day. Photographers or videographers who don’t show up on time, or worse, don’t show up at all.

That’s why it is so important to stay organized when you are planning one of the most important days of your life. Imagine the heartache of not having pictures to look back on your wedding day.

A crucial aspect of planning a wedding is to know how much time you will need and what should be done first and foremost. Of course you want to pick your date as far out as you possibly can. One year is a good place to begin planning your wedding. But if you are dead set on a date that is only a few months away than you might even consider hiring a wedding planner or wedding consultant to help expedite things.

The wedding business is a huge profit making industry, but that doesn’t mean you have to cash in the farm to pay for them. If you pick your wedding date that is at least one year in the future, you can start saving money on your current bills and give up those expensive dates at restaurants.

Talk to other brides to be and network since everyone loves a good bargain. Sometimes you can negotiate if you have a network of brides in the picture. And stick to your wedding planner guide to help keep you on your time line.

Allergies and Deodorant: What Is The Deal?

July 28th, 2008 by Pamela Johnson

by Dorothy Medlum

To prevent body odor, people use deodorant. They put it under arms and when they perspire, the sweat mixes with the deodorant to produce a nice, more pleasant odor. What happens though, if you are allergic to the very thing that you are using to protect yourself from odor?

But, what happens to the user, if the deodorant is not good for them, what if they have an allergy to their deodorant?

The cause of the reaction may be something simple, such as; the deodorant is too strong for their body. They may need a milder form of the deodorant. It can also be a reaction to the washing powder they are doing their clothes in; it may not be related to their deodorant at all.

By changing deodorants, the wearer may now find that all is well. If however, there is still a problem with the use of the deodorant; that can be eliminated. There are other alternatives to wearing a deodorant.

After carefully testing you, your doctor may say you just need to change brands. Yours may be too harsh to your body. If after changing brands, you still experience some problems, there are other alternatives.

You may decide to try some talc or some baby powder. Both will leave you fresh, and make you smell much nicer after a sporting event. Just place some powder or talc under your arms and it will also help eliminate the amount of perspiration that you are having.

This may not be as effective as the deodorant was, but it will not cause you the same reaction as the deodorant. Therefore, you smell better, without the problems the deodorant created.

If you still are not sure whether you have an allergy to your deodorant or not, you may want to see an allergist. He can determine if it is indeed your deodorant or maybe the soap you are washing your clothes in. Having an allergy to your deodorant is not the end of the world, you have other alternatives to staying fresh all day long. So, don’t sweat the small stuff!

Sleep 8 Hours But Feel Tired?

July 28th, 2008 by Phyllis Wheeler

by Susan Harris

Are you plagued by tiredness? Do others say you snore? Are you at least slightly overweight? If so, you could have sleep apnea.

If all these are true, don’t wait! Sleep apnea could be shortening your life. Have your doctor prescribe a sleep study to find out whether you have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition where you are holding your breath and then gasping for air man times a night. Here’s one reason why you shouldn’t wait: it will shorten your life. You are at increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular disease including aneurism. Here’s the other reason why you shouldn’t wait: there’s treatment.

In sleep apnea, the airway collapses during an intake breath. Fatty tissue lining the airway causes the airway to lose elasticity. At least a bit of excess weight is therefore generally necessary for sleep apnea to occur. Sufferers generally also snore.

After the airway closes, the oxygen level in the blood drops. Blood pressure shoots up. The sleeper struggles to breathe and begins to wake up. Returning to consciousness, the sleeper opens the airway, and the breath is completed. The sleeper falls back to sleep. The cycle begins again, perhaps many times per minute. Breath cessation for 10 seconds will bring you a diagnosis of sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea wears out your cardiovascular system because of the constant cycle of high blood pressure. It also shreds your rest because of the continual near-waking required to keep breathing.

The fact that you are holding your breath may come as a surprise to you. It’s the constant tiredness that will be obvious.

The spiking blood pressure many times each night will bring you closer to heart attack or stroke.

What to do?

Effective treatment has been available for a couple of decades now. The continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) system supplies air from a fan through a hose to a mask placed over the nose and mouth. Pressure from the fan keeps the airway open as you breathe in. It’s not so much pressure that you can’t breathe out.

One downside is that the mask can be uncomfortable. But a variety of suppliers offer options now, one of which will probably fit your face.

Another downside is that you have to wear it whenever you lie down to sleep. If you go traveling or camping, you still have to wear it.

Is the fan noise a problem? Users say no; the white noise can actually help them fall asleep.

So, do a quick risk analysis. Is the risk of early death worth the inconvenience of wearing a mask and finding an electric outlet whenever you fall asleep?

Design a Wedding Ring, But Choose the Right Designer

July 27th, 2008 by Geraldine Dimarco

by Geraldine Dimarco

Young couples who plan to marry should spend some quality time when it comes to choosing their wedding rings, or the designer who they will select to design a wedding ring for them. This is something a couple will do alone as it should be a special time. Quality jewelers are not always easy to find and those that specialize in wedding rings are even harder. Many people, however, make the mistake of going to a jewelry store in a mall.

If you are lucky you might find enough variety but these stores often only carry a small selection of rings, and are unlikely to have someone who can competently design a wedding ring for you. It is in your best interest to find a jeweler that specializes so you will have enough styles and materials to choose from. Of course it should go without saying that the wedding ring you choose must complement the engagement ring that your partner is wearing.

The engagement ring is meant to be more stunning than the wedding ring so be careful what you choose. some rings have been made to complement each other and these should be the type you seek. Alternatively you will just need to spend time trying new diamond wedding rings or even plain gold wedding bands until you find one that matches the engagement ring.

The most commonly sought after metals for rings are White Gold, Platinum, Titanium, Yellow Gold and Rose Gold, although increasing numbers of couples are choosing the longer lasting platinum over the white gold or titanium options. Obviously, if you’re after a yellor or rose colored ring, you’ll opt for yellow gold or rose gold, though.

Ensuring the wedding rings fit perfectly is essential. Try to imagine that neither ring fitting on the wedding day and you will understand why this is so important. It is just as important to ensure the rings are not so loose that there is a chance they will be lost.

The jeweler should be given plenty of time to complete this task because there may be others he is adjusting rings for. Make certain that you give plenty of time before your wedding day for both choosing and for adjustments to be made. Choosing wedding bands you will both like and that match the engagement ring may take some time. Allow for this as it is not uncommon for couples to choose in haste and then regret their decision later.

However, the most important aspect to remember when choosing a wedding ring is that its purpose is to show the love that two people have for one another. This is why it makes sense to choose something you will both enjoy wearing, whether you choose to have a designer design a wedding ring for you or whether you choose from pre-made diamond wedding rings, or go to an antique store in search of antique wedding rings.
